North Seattle Neighborhoods: Haller Lake

North Seattle Neighborhoods:  Haller Lake

Haller Lake is an often overlooked neighborhood.  Not sure why this happens.  I think maybe the lack of sidewalksHaller Lake in some of the further north neighborhoods get lost on some home buyers.  But they have so much to offer!  This is the case of Haller Lake.  There are lots of trees, great accessibility to main roads and a beautiful lake with nice, affordable homes.

The boundaries are NE 145th Street on the north; 110th Avenue NE on the south; Aurora (Highway 99) on the west and Interstate 5 on the east.  (map)

Haller Lake, (the lake and neighborhood), is named after real estate developer Theodore Haller.  He platted the community in 1905.

The lake itself is 15 acres and 36 feet deep.  It is a private lake except for two public access points.  These are located on Meridian Avenue on the north and 125th Avenue on the west.  On the west side, there are areas to picnic, bird watch and take a swim.  Haller Lake is occasionally stocked with fish and is the source of Thornton Creek which runs east through North Seattle to Lake Washington.

This neighborhood is mainly residential with a park, Northacres occupying 20 acres.
Lakeside School, a private school with famous alumni, Bill Gates, Paul Allen and Adam West, (the original "Batman'), is located in the northeast corner of the Haller Lake neighborhood.
Northwest Hospital is also located in Haller Lake and is nationally known as a successful leader in treatment of brain, breast and prostate cancers.
Other businesses include the Granite Curling Club, grocery stores, LA Fitness, fast food restaurants, Staples Office Supply and many more businesses along Aurora Avenue.

Currently prices for two bedroom homes are selling from $226,000 to $356,000; three bedrooms are $260,000 to $416,000; and four bedrooms run from $299,000 to $438,000.
